With a surface of nearly 62.000 m² for 228 independent bays, the retractable roof realized to shade the streets of the Dubai Expo stands as the largest of its kind ever built. Thanks to our involvement from the earliest design phases, we engineered, manufactured and installed a high-performance, fully customized solution, ensuring long-term efficiency, durability and resistance to extreme climatic conditions.
More than 5.000 trolleys, 18.000 sliding wheels, 10.500 meters of custom design and fabricated rails, 456 engines and related drives controlled by 19 independent electrical panels connected to a single control room via 64.000 meters of wired electrical cables. These are just a few significant numbers that illustrate the complexity of the project and its on-site installation, conducted under the supervision of our dedicated team of project and site managers who where fully and exclusively involved in every phase of the project, from design to final testing.
Today, the retractable roof is still present and operational at the site of the 2020 Expo World, now known as Expo City Dubai, an example of a smart city and innovation hub.
