A bronze monument dating back to the late 1930s, located within the park of the United Nations Office in Geneva, required extensive restoration.
We removed all the bronze statues, dismantled the old forged iron internal structure, which had become completely corroded, and rebuilt it using stainless steel. All the figures and arches were then refurbished and re-gilded, restoring the monument's original aesthetic appearance. Thanks to modern technology, it was also possible to reactivate the original rotation of the sphere, which had remained inoperative since the outbreak of the Second World War.
The new mechanism, featuring a motor housed within the lower rotation joint and a micro gear reducer, now enables the sphere to rotate slowly and smoothly. Finally, we designed and installed the sphere's lighting system, composed of photocromatic LED strips controlled by a programmable software unit located near the monument.
